Powered Parachute – Solo
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008It seems that my hobbies and interests follow a certain cyclical fasion. Recently I got interested in Powered Parachutes (PPC) and decided to try and buy one of these machines. I hope to post new videos whenever I get it flying, but here is the first video depicting my first solo just after 2 flights with the instructor.

FlyBoys v1.0
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006RC Airplanes
When we began flying this year, our total numbers were twice the size. Half of the planes have been destroyed in crashes. Everyone experienced some sort of a crash. Some have been major – without hope of rebuilding, while others were mild. The two planes featured are the J-3 Cub by Great Planes and the SIG Kadet Senior (Modified with ailerons). The Kadet Senior has had a recent facelift which included a repair process of the wing support area and new covering of the body. It now features a .61 Tower Hobbies engine instead of the OS 40 that powered it previously.
Airshow 2006 – Andrews AFB
Thursday, June 22nd, 2006Airshow 2006
A couple of my friends and I visited the annual DoD open house at Andrews AFB. This wasn’t my first time there and I’ve seen some of the participants before. I think that things were tuned down a bit this year. I’m not sure if this was the first year that they did this, but we had to park at the FedEx field (Redskins stadium) and shuttle-bused to the base. The show lacked some participants and was “ok” for first timers. The highlight, as usual, was the appearance of Blue Angels. There were also the Canadian Snowbirds that did some nice formation flying.

Blade CP Heli – Third Flight
Sunday, May 14th, 2006Blade CP Video Clip
I have yet to fully trim this little helicopter. It does take some effort to keep it in one spot. Altitude changes quickly and often without any input, but I guess that is due to ground effect. Stay tuned for more possible posts about my new BladeCP.
Blade CP – mini Electric Helicopter
Friday, May 12th, 2006[inspic=93,left,fullscreen,thumb] I’ve always been fascinated with aviation. Right after high school I began my private pilot training. I managed to pass and did fly afterwards as recreation. Before I started training I was a little involved in RC airplanes. Just recently, I’ve decided to invest in a little electric mini helicopter – Blade CP.
Today was the first time that I have ever flown an RC helicopter. I did manage to practice some with a simulator while waiting for my package. The evening was going well and was hovering. After doing simple forward flight, the helicopter lifted above my head and I guess I pulled the throttle too fast. [inspic=95,left,fullscreen,thumb]The heli fell like a rock and hit the pavement. I thought that there would be great damage. Luckily it was just the blades and some worn off teeth on the fly wheel.
I did not expect to start flying so fast, but here I am hovering all over the place and already have a crash in my record book – all in one evening.
